stART for baby, toddler & preschooler

stART - week 1/25/10
This is a great blog carnival A Mommy Adventures starts every Thursday. Read your child a book & then do art that goes with it then link your blog up to her McKlinky. Lots of fun!

This week I decided to do something a little different. I am doing stART with all 3 of my kids! I hope that it's ok to do this for my baby, she is 9 months but she likes me to read to her so I am posting what I did with her for stART!

I read: Baby Einstein's Baby da Vinci My Body book to her. She loved all the mirrors in the book because she likes looking at herself - I don't blame her she is so stinkin' cute, I know I'm her mom & of course I'm going to think that!

To go with the book about our bodies, I decided to paint my 9 month old's feet. So with pink paint I painted the bottoms of her tootsies & made her footprints on construction paper.

For my oldest (4 yrs)
We read Chicka Chicka 123

We are reading this book all week & doing an assortment of activities with it - what a great book!

JJ stamping his numbers on his Chicka Chicka tree

For my 2 year old we have been working on our colors so we read the Crayon Box Talked.
This is a nice book for kids who are learning their colors!

I cut up squares of paper, had Jumping Bean use different mediums for each color:
red - marker, orange - crayon, yellow - oil pastel, green - color pencil, blue - bing dobber, purple - water color, black - pen, white - nothing (plain paper) , brown - acrylic paint, gray - glitter glue, pink - paper mache. He enjoyed using all the different mediums. Then I hole punched it & used a binder ring - now he has his own color flip chart!

Love the color flip chart! Great idea. We love the Chicka Chicka 123 book here too!
About the colored ice cubes in the bathtub. It shouldn't leave anything behind in your bathtub. Just mix the water before hand with only a drop or two of food coloring and then pour the water into the ice cube tray to freeze instead of putting a drop into each ice cube like I did. =) That was TOO much!
