HOW TO MAKE SLIME! GREAT HANDS ON SCIENCE FUN!

At our last homeschool group park play date we had a company come out that does Science fun with kids. The kids had a chance to make SLIME!

Even my 2 year old participated! What great fun! Interested in making some?

Materials needed:

1 teaspoon Borax
2 cups water
2 cups white glue
Food coloring
Bowls

Here are the instructions:
Dissolve Borax in 1/2 cup of water. Stir the mixture and then set it aside.
Mix 2 cups of white glue with 1 1/2 cups water in another bowl. Add food coloring, if desired. Kids seem to like a nice lime green color, which resembles snot.
Pour the Borax solution into the glue mixture. Mix together until a thick gelatin is formed.
Knead the slime for about 5 minutes. The more it is kneaded, the drier and less sticky it becomes.
Store the slime in a plastic baggie or container, otherwise it will mold.

What a great hands on Science experiment to see how the properties of the materials change! They loved it!

We have made this before but found it always needed just a little tweaking to get it 100% right. It was lots of fun though!

I'm not familiar with Borax other than seeing it in detergent recipes. Is it safe to handle or should the parent do the first step?

This looks cool and I have a Cub Scout den that I'm sure would love making it.

I used to make something similar to this with my preschoolers when I worked in childcare and we would call it "space mud". They loved it! Thanks for sharing these instructions!
