Welcome to Mom's Quick Tips Thursdays! Each week I will either post or have a guest post have a Mom's Quick Tips to share with you! As a mom to 4 (and trying for our 5th) life is busy. I am always looking for ways to make life easier whether it be doing something quicker, easier or thrifty!
If you are interested in sharing a Mom Tip as a guest blogger on my blog feel free to fill out the following FORM.
My Quick thrifty tip this week is all about car organization for your kids.
My mini van gets super messy, it amazes me how much "stuff" I find in the back of the van that my kids leave. I decided to come up with a plan to try to organize. My 2 boys like to keep busy while we are in the van so I added a on-the go basket for them.
I didn't spend any money on this project. The large plastic bin I pull out from a storage drawer unit (I threw the until away and kept the drawers). Inside if this bin I placed 2 cloth baskets which were Easter baskets my kids got from family this year.
I pulled some items to put in their car organizer to keep them busy -- books, a clip board, notebook, pencils and pencil sharpener
Some learning games - math and spelling as well as some crayons. (No the crayons didn't melt surprisingly in the Florida sun)

Now it's just a matter of trying them to keep it neat which is a challenge but it's much better than finding their belongings on the floor, in between the seat, etc.
For my 3 year old daughter I did something I little different for her toys and books.
I added them to a clear plastic bag that was mine when I was a kid and draped them over her seat. She can easily reach over the side and pull out what she wants. (books, sunglasses, a mini notebook with crayons and a few small toys)

The I add the books in one basket, the games, pencils and erasers in another basket and the coloring books and notebooks on the side in the larger bin.
Then I put the whole unit in between both my boys carseats so that both of them can reach the items in the bin.
Now it's just a matter of trying them to keep it neat which is a challenge but it's much better than finding their belongings on the floor, in between the seat, etc.

Look around your home, there is no need to spend money on making on of these organizers for your kids too!

Great suggestions. That is definitely organized and easy to find.
ReplyDeleteWhat an easy and great idea!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat great suggestions. I need a little organization in my life!
ReplyDeleteGood tip, I have a Kilwins container in the back of our van.
ReplyDeleteLoving the clear bag on the car seat idea. My car is a disaster right now. The floor in the back seat looks like a toy grave yard. I'm going to try this out on my two year old!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tips, trying to keep the mini van organized, especially with 3 kids is tough. I hate having things roll around and clink against the doors when I go around a bend.
ReplyDeleteGreat tip!! :D We have a DVD player which, thankfully, keeps them pretty entertained!
