We enjoy grilling and I get bored from the same old boring things like BBQ sauce so I decided to experiment.
So with the help of my son we experimented making a marinade that I came up with the ingredients on the fly.
Ingredients:
2 oranges
1/2 lime
3 cloves of garlic
Squeeze the oranges and lime into a bowl and then mince up finely the garlic and wisp all 3 ingredients together. This is fun for kids to help out, my 5 year old son loved to do the squeezing.
I drizzled this marinade over our chicken while it was grilling but next time I will marinate the chicken in it for a few hours to giving it more flavor and then grill.
Depending on how much protein you are cooking will depend on how many oranges you would use, the more protein the more oranges.

ReplyDeleteSound delicious! I've never made my own marinade before - now I'm tempted to try it out.
ReplyDeleteI usually just buy marinade, but this actually seems like a really simple (and probably healthier b/c of less sodium) marinade to create! Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteLooks yummy! I am sure this marinade could be used on fish as well... as long as you only put it on a few minutes before cooking it since the marinane would cook (burn) the fish!
ReplyDeleteI am always looking for ways to spice up my grilled chicken. thanks for the idea! :)
