I have been a big fan of Britax car seats for sometime now. I feel that they are the safest on the market. I will explain why in this post with the Britax Pavilion 70-G3 car seat.


BRITAX convertible car seats can be used rear facing from 5 to 40 pounds and forward facing from 1 year and 20 pounds, up to 70 pounds, depending on the seat. High-capacity convertibles allow your child to stay in a five-point harness through the toddler years.

HUGS Chest Pads with SafeCell Technology are affixed to the seat shell to ensure proper positioning while SafeCells compress to manage energy and provide resistance to the forward movement of your child in a crash, reducing the risk of head injury.

  

 

EZ-Buckle System retains the harness buckle in a forward position and prevents the child from sitting on the buckle when boarding.

 

True Side Impact Protection is deep side walls with energy-absorbing EPP foam along with a head restraint which offers a double layer of EPP foam to distribute crash forces, shield from vehicle intrusion, and contain the head, neck and body while keeping them “in true” or aligned.

 

Every since we installed the Britax Pavilion 70-G3 Car Seat in our van my son has fallen asleep each ride, I believe because he is so comfortable in his new seat. I have seen car seats where children fall asleep and their heads wobble all the way to one side but with the True Side Impact Protection not only will it keep their heads protected but it will keep the child from having a kinked neck.

 

 

Base with SafeCell Technology features SafeCells designed to compress in a crash, significantly lowering the center of gravity and counteracting the forward rotation of the child seat which normally propels the child toward the front seat.

 

Integrated Steel Bars strengthen the connection to the vehicle and reduce forward flexing of the child seat during a crash.  

Energy-Absorbing Versa-Tether features a staged-release tether webbing to slow the forward movement, reducing the crash forces reaching the child, and a two-point attachment to minimize forward rotation while anchoring the top of the child seat.

 

Click & Safe® Snug Harness Indicator is an audible aid that provides extra assurance when the harness is within range of appropriate snugness.

 

This happens to be one of my favorite features of this car seat. In my son's old car seat he was able to get his arms all the way out of the 5 point harness even when tightened! This always scared me, with the Britax Pavilion 70-G3 he cannot get his arms out of the 5 point harness which makes this one of the safest features in my opinion of this car seat!

We have typically kept our children rear facing at least till the age of 2 years old any longer than that we have found that our kids get frustrated and want to look the other way and push their feet off on the seat screaming. So my son will be 2 years old in a month, we decided in his Britax Pavilion 70-G3 car seat that we would front face him. I would never have done this with any other car seat than a Britax because no other car seat offers these fantastic safety features.
