Jumping Bean is 30 months
OUR WEEK OF TRIANGLES & HEARTS
TRIANGLES
I made a triangle sort sheet, I cut the pieces out and had my toddler put them in the pocket chart. Then I went through my Sunday newspaper sale ads & cut out a bunch of hearts from all the Valentine's sale ads, glued them on scrap index cards. Then I mixed the 2 piles together & had Jumping Bean sort them & place them into 2 seperate pocket charts.
Jumping Bean worked on a wooden puzzle with different shapes
With string I made a triangle on the floor & with game playing chips my tot traced the triangle
Then he put all the chips back in the container
He picked out in his shapes coloring book - to color the "triangle" ice cream cone (I was shocked at how well he tried to stay in the lines!)
HEARTS
I so love Chistian Preschool Printables! I utilized their resources for teaching this week.
I printed off a heart lacing card for my tot to lace.
He needed help so I helped him thread the string through the hole & he pulled & with each pull he would fall backwards & giggle!
Jumping Bean did the Achy Breaky Hearts matching broken hearts file folder game
Another Homeschool Valentine's Day party (at the park)
Jumping Bean decorating his bag for his friends to put their Valentine's in
pin the arrow on the heart game
on the swing
on the slide
Check back next week to see our week about squares & stars!

Great ideas! What a fun week! I need to make one of those lacing cards for B to try.....off to find the materials. =)
ReplyDeleteI love the triangle activities. I haven't done any lacing with Ryleigh yet...I should probably get on that :) Great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking to christianpreschoolprintables.com. What a great resource! I can't wait to do some of these activities with my daughter.
ReplyDeleteI know I said something last week, but your poker chip shapes are so inspired! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun week! I love all of the hearts you found in the ads! What a great way to get a bunch of different types!
ReplyDeleteYour shape sort using the Sunday ads was a great use of resources. I wish I had a pocket chart. The triangle on the floor looks like fun. I bet my Charger would like it. Thank you for sharing your wonderful ideas. Might I add, I am jealous that it is warm enough where you are that you can celebrate Valentine's Day in a park!
ReplyDeleteYou guys had an awesome week. What a great sorting activity with the triangles and hearts.
ReplyDeleteGreat week! I LOVE the triangle on the floor--my little guy is so kinetic; he would love that kind of activity! Thanks for stopping by our blog, too...I always enjoy your comments! I'm thinking of doing a "freaky friday" swap with other creative bloggers--writing a post for creative project around the house/project to do with kids/or great learning activity you've done...we would swap and write to each other's followers...interested? I've enjoyed your blog for a while-- and know the mom's who read my blog would love to hear from you! What do you think? You can email me or comment on our blog--shaunna@harristire.com
ReplyDeleteLook forward to hearing from you!
Wonderful shape activities!!!
ReplyDeleteI like your idea of placing the string on the floor and then tracing over it. It is so versatile as you could do this for so many things apart from shapes (I'm thinking letters and numbers).
ReplyDeleteShaunna - I e-mailed you :)

How fun that he would clean up so well after making that huge triangle on the floor! I'm impressed. And I would totally have picked the ice cream cone for coloring a triangle, too--what could possibly be better?! He did a great job trying to stay in the lines. Again, I'm impressed. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
