OUR THANKSGIVING TREE & OTHER THANKSGIVING ACTIVITIES

THANKSGIVING ACTIVITIES

For the month of November I decided to make a Thanksgiving Tree. So I went to the geocery store & picked up a few paper bags, then I made a tree trunk & some branches (just winged it, didn't use a template), then I glued the branches to the tree trunk. I had my 5 year old write Thanksgiving Tree on the trunk. Cut out several leaves out of construction paper, each day my 5 year old writes something that he's thankful for on a leaf while my 3 year old colors a leaf a day & sometimes draws lines on the leaves & tells me what he wrote :) I have this hung up on our inside garage door into the house, I din't tape or glue it to the dooe but I used magnets to hold it.

Some of the things he said he was thankful for were his father & I, his grandparents, his best friend Dennis, his siblings but the 1st thing he wrote was God!

We also make a Cornucopia, the boys painted the actual Cornucopia then glued the fruits / vegetables into the Cornucopia, my 5 year old wrote a Bible Verse on his pumpkin.

Then for my preschoolers I printed off Indian Corn Match & turned it into a file folder game for him to match the pieces of the shapes.

  5. We have a Thanksgiving tree too! Every Thursday in November, we turn over one of the leaves to see a verse reference. We look up the verse and read it - they all remind us to give thanks to the Lord.

  8. I love your Thanksgiving tree. We did one last year for just the week of Thanksgiving. Doing it a whole month is a great idea. I don't know if everyone has this problem with your site, or if it's just my computer....but I usually have to try opening your page about 4 times before it will show the words...it's always black everywhere except for the pictures. Your site is the only one that does that to me?? Anyway, looks like a great week. I'm stopping by again from Preschool Corner link up.

  18. Hi there...we just heard about this activity this year! Was fun to see the actual tree. We drew and cut one out yesterday...it's being pressed out underneath our floor rug as we speak (ha). Made too many limbs on it and all they want to do is curl up! Hoping it's 24 hour stay under the rug will help! Thanks for sharing...My kids are all older 21, 17, 15 and 9 - but I do think this will be nice to start even now. I know our 9 year old will enjoy it.

We home school in Iowa - it has been a blessing! Again, thanks for sharing!
