PUSH PINS & BINDER RING ACTIVITY LEARNING GAME

I am always trying to come up with new and fun things to do with my 19 month baby. She is a very busy baby and doesn't sit still for a moment so I like doing things to keep her little hands busy!

I came up with this idea -- my husband made a huge cork bullentin board in our downstairs hallway for our homeschooling so I took push pins and put them in the bullentin board about a few inches apart from each other in a line down the bottom of the board (now you maybe thinking - is she crazy to use those around a baby! Just so you know that these push pins are SO hard to get out - I have a hard time getting them out PLUS I did NOT move from the area with my kids present and once the push pins were in the cork nothing sharp sticking out).

Then I gave her binder rings in different sizes to place on the push pins. Some she placed one ring on, some 2 or more on. She loved this and as a matter of fact her older brother saw her doing this and wanted to do it too!

I find that finding things I already have around the house can often be more economical and just as fun to learn with than going out and spending alot of money on activities! What do you have around your house that you can teach with? Please comment back and share!

  3. I had my daughter practice putting acorn 'hats' back on their 'heads' while we played outside. The little caps and acorns are just about the right size for chubby toddler fingers. There was a lot of dropping, but also a lot of talking about hats and trying really hard to get the hats on!

  7. I love the idea but, how can you make your kids not to take off the pushpin?

  9. What a neat idea, though since my son as already eaten a screw I would be leery of him around push pins :) I'm sure I can come up with something. I posted 3 ideas that your little one might be interested in with common household things...

  10. What a great idea, it is so often the simplest of ideas which keep them captivated, isn't it?
