We headed to Naples / Sanibel for a nice relaxing, fun weekend with my family and friends. I remember as a kid going to Sanibel Island with my family and with those great times I remember I wanted my children to experience the beauty of the Sanibel Island I knew as a child. God blessed us incredibly - the sea life we saw was incredible!
Sea sponges, crabs, sea stars, sting ray, sand dollar, sea snails, seagulls!
Sea sponges
Sea sponge with a tiny crab on it
we saw lots of these sea snails that secrete a purple dye (we learned about this in Mystery of History)
We collected a sea sponge floating in the ocean which was full of little crabs (we put them back in the ocean after we held them and looked at them up close)
Even the seagulls enjoyed the day!
Buddies playing in the ocean - my boys with their friends
I will be doing seperate posts for the sand dollars, lighthouse and our sea treasures we found that day!
Sanibel is absolutely beautiful. That's where my hubby and I got married! I'm glad you had such a great time while you were there!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you guys had a blast!!! I think we are going to hit the beach this weekend ourselves. I am looking forward to it!
ReplyDeleteI love Sanibel! There is always sea life there all over! Oh- and it's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI remember as a kid there being dolphins in the water like 2 feet from me and I almost had a heart attack.
We live down in Sarasota County! I didn't realize you were Floridians, as well!
Love when you can pull in learning where ever you go! New follower on GFC from the Friday blog hop! Thanks for hosting! http://www.thrivingwith5.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI love Sanibel! We have not take our children there yet though. We have made a few trips to Florida's lovely Oceanside though. It is such a great hands on exploration! We made a huge poster with all the awesome creatures we found while exploring!
ReplyDeleteI have never been to Sanibel but it looks and sounds like great fun:)

You can't beat learning like that.
ReplyDeleteWe live right by the beach but rarely go in the summer. Too many tourists. LOL
How cool to see all that sea life up close like that! Looks like a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteLearning is so much better when they are having so much fun!
ReplyDeleteOh how fun! We were on Captiva Island a couple of years ago and just loved it!! So jealous ;)
ReplyDeleteWe recently vacationed on Sanibel and it was beautiful. You have great pictures.
ReplyDeleteThat is some great hands-on learning! Beaches make the best vacation spots for kids.
