BRING YOUR OWN POOL TO THE BEACH - NOT A BLOW UP ONE EITHER - THRIFTY TIP!

My kids and I along with my cousin, her daughter (who was out of school last week for Spring break), my aunt and aunt's best friend went to the beach last week. My aunt is SO creative, she was thinking of my baby. When I saw her pull out a bit shovel and shower curtain I asked what's that for? It's to make a pool for the baby she replied, how? I was now curious!

As I watched, they dig a nice size hole, placed the thick shower curtain into the hole - leaving a large portion outside on the top of the sand and then they poured some of the water from of the ocean in the hole portion - there was his little pool. Perfect and just his size! (If you are wondering about the voc's from the PVC shower curtain - don't it was outside and I didn't smell any at all!)

I was glad she did this because he hated the ocean! Sure beats bringing a blow up pool!

By the time it was to time to leave it was full of sand but it's OK, all the kids loved it!

  4. What a great idea! I have an infant who will be 6 months in May, this would be fun with him at the beach. They do make PVC free shower curtains now :)

  6. GENIUS! We live in Hawaii and go to the beach all the time. My daughter is getting old enough to handle the waves, but my son is only 10 months. This would be perfect for him! Thanks! I'm definitely going to try this!

  7. Great idea! I live only about 5 houses away from the beach so it'd be fairly easy for me to drag my baby pool over there but I've never done it! :) I'll have to try it next time.

  13. How easy is that! I have seen people bring there own blow up pools and it seems like such a pain. This is so easy to bring and clean off afterward!

  16. That is a great idea, but check your beach rules first. There are some beaches in California where you can't dig a hole on the beach. I guess some fool people did not fill theirs back in.

  22. Funny cause my friend and I were just discussing options for beach babies. We decided that we're going to get a boat type float and take it out to sea, put some water in it and float out in the ocean with the baby in the boat. Everyone enjoys swimming together! When my daughter was little I was sad cause I couldn't play int eh water hands-free (my favorite part of the beach is the open ocean). With floaties, safety vests, whatever, the boat out at sea seems really fun! You could even put sand in it and take it out with you. Baby plays in sand while you float around him. Seems fun, yes?

  24. That's ingenious! Maybe I will use this tip at the lake this summer. Does the water warm up from the sun? I think that would help my son enjoy the water more.

  25. I love this idea! I have a 3 month old and we will be going to Hawaii in about 3 months. We will be spending lots of time at the beach and this way would be a nicefor me to play with him in a confined environment.

  26. Think this would be nice to do in the shade if the sun was way too hot. Will consider it for our next trip. Thanks
