We recently took a trip to Legoland Florida, our family had a blast. Prior to leaving we did a Lego learning week!
The boys played Lego Bingo which came in the pack (free) I just slid the pages in protective covers for the cards (I did eliminate the witch, cut her out and used a different character on our cards)
For my preschooler I had him go through their Lego blocks and match the colors on the color sheet
For fun I went through their Lego blocks and picked out all the character pieces and had them make their own silly creations. (This was not in the Lego Pack)
Guessing blocks, (in the Lego Pack), dumping blocks on the page and guessing the correct amount.
Measuring 3 towers they made
(in the Lego Pack) the boys played Roll a Lego mini figure
I made them Lego block sandwiches, peanut butter and strawberry sandwiches and banana slices on the top!
We enjoyed our Legoland trip with our homeschool group, here are a few pictures!
The boys drove their own boat which was hilarious because my oldest kept getting stuck along the course. He was patient and did a great job!
We had a fun week of Lego learning! You can see more of our Legoland pictures HERE.

Those are some awesome activities! My favorite is the make a person dice game. I like to do addition problems with legos. It would be nice to have some simple figures young children could make with step by step directions. Does the lego website have anything like that?
ReplyDeleteTHIS is awesome. I want to do this with my son. He LOVES Legos!!! Fun + learning = win win!

THis is such a great idea! Always the best ideas you come up with:)
ReplyDeleteMy kids are older now but I help out a friend at times that has a home daycare. The kids would have so much fun with your suggestions and the sandwiches are too cute!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Love the activities! My boys are super Lego fans.
ReplyDeletePS: The Lego sandwiches are adorable.
Great activities for kids. I taught elementary school for a few years and the kids would have loved this. I bet your kids were excited for the task. Nothing like hands on learning. The trip to lego land looks fun too.
ReplyDeleteWow. Looks like a blast!
ReplyDeleteI love hands on activities!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I would love to get my girls to play with Legos but it's hard to let them play with anything small like that because they always lose them too fast. I'd have to think of a spot to keep them that's not in their room because then they'd end up all over the place!
ReplyDeleteThis is great! I know that my girls would love to do this type of stuff! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLegoLand was awesome when we went! It was just a tad busy and a bit too much for my three year old. Looks like you had fun and those Lego activities look like fun. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is such a fun idea! I wish I had that as a kid.

ReplyDeleteI love these blocks, my grandson will play for hours with his blocks, I even like to build things out the blocks.
ReplyDeleteThis is so cool! I LOVE Legos!
ReplyDeleteDear Mama to 4 blessings :) You are very creative in finding new ways to learn with LEGO :) I did something similar with my 4-year-old son and his Schleich plastic animals ( here: http://constructingkids.wordpress.com/2012/04/07/counting-cows-and-selling-elefants/ ) I believe there is many ways of learning with LEGOs:
ReplyDelete1. Black boxing (Building a LEGO set following the instruction) and
2. Out of the box (Being creative and using only your imagination)
I dont think one is better than the other, they have different learning potentials. Please keep posting activities like this :)
Best wishes
