KIDS NEED MORE ART -- INSECTS ( LEARN & LINK) LINKY

Do you have an educational post that is about your child and you would like to share? It can be a craft, a lesson, sport etc. that your child learned this week. You do not have to be a homeschooler to LINK up below - happy to have you join us! Then come back every Friday and continue to share your learn and link post! Please do not link up educational reviews - thanks!

This week we went on a really great field trip with our homeschool group. The 1st half of the class the kids did watercolor and print art and the 2nd half of the class they were given bug nets for the kids to catch bugs in the nature area.

The kids were given hexagon (to resemble a beehive comb) cardstock shapes and they traced this shap all throughout their pictures and then they pained each hextagon shape in a different watercolor paint.

After the watercolor paint dried , they took a 3D bee image, rolled it with black screening paint and then pressed it over the watercolor paintings.

My kids finished art work:

Then the kids went in seach of bugs:
My older boys caught a grasshopper (left picture) and a little tiny green bug of some sort. Even my 2 year old was trying to catch bugs with his net! After all the kids caught their bugs and looked at them under magnifying boxes they released them back into nature.

  10. Looks like fun was had by all! Glad you released the bugs back to nature-and equally glad they did not catch any of the stinging variety!! However did you get the bugs to stay still under the microscope?

I'd love it if you could post a link for this on my blogg:

I'm in Belfast Northern Ireland, and was thinking it would be really fun to find a group of online home educators in different places to share ideas with - but especially fun if we could each post something about local holidays and traditions through out the year.
