My husband and I are little by little cutting out processed foods, making things from scratch. One of those things is pasta sauce.
Here is a super easy delicious recipe to make pasta sauce:
Ingredients:
6 Ripe Medium Tomato's
1 Carrot (halved)
1 Clove of Garlic (peeled)
1/2 Teaspoon of Basil
1/2 Teaspoon of Oregano or Pizza Seasoning
1/2 Teaspoon of Sugar
1/4 Teaspoon of Salt
2 Tablespoon of Tomato Paste
1 Small Onion peeled (halved)
Squeeze of lemon
Squeeze of lemon
I used my Vitamix to make this recipe but you can use a regular blender.
Toss all your ingredients in the Vitamix or blender. If using a Vitamix select on variable 1 and then increase quickly to 10 on high. Blend for 5 minutes so that all the ingredients are fully blended plus if you are using a Vitamix you will not need to heat up the sauce because of the blade speed will leave the sauce hot when you are done. If you are using a regular blender blend until all ingredients are fully blended and then pour them into a sauce pan and heat.
I do not think I will buy jar sauce again after making this. You can definitely taste the difference in the freshness! Plus their are ingredients in it that I can actually pronounce!
I had enough to freeze for our next meal too!
This was a variation of Vitamix's recipe, I changed it up a bit.

This looks so good! Being married to an Italian, I need a good sauce. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recipe! I'm going to try it this weekend. My husband and I were just discussing last night how we have to cut back more processed foods. We bought a Blendtec (similar to the Vitamix) not too long ago and we have already started eating way less processed food. This is just another step in the right direction! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWe will have to try that. We try to avoid jar sauce if we can.
ReplyDeleteI love homemade tomato sauce. It definitely is a lot fresher and the taste is just so amazing. You can really tell the difference. My husband always asks me to make it fresh because he loves the flavor so much. I didn't mind until our blender died. Now we are back to bottled sauce and I don't like it. Must get that blender replaced ASAP! lol.
ReplyDeleteOooh yumms!! And bubbly :)
ReplyDeleteI have never even thought to put my ingredients in a blender before!! Cleaning blenders drive me bonkers! LOL
