LETTER OF THE WEEK "B" & LEARNING ABOUT BIRDS! (art, science & more) PRESCHOOL & KINDERGARTEN

Preschool & Kindergarten

I am teaching my 3 year old his ABC's & incorporating items that start with the letter B, so we are learning about birds this week and for my 5 year old for Science he is learning about birds. (this was a 2 week lesson)

This week we are working on letter of the week "B"
With the letter "B" we are learning about birds!

I made these printable Cut & Paste Bird pages (feel free to print & use them). This is for scissor practice, cut the birds out and glue them into the tree.

Recycled bird feeder
Made of 2 organic milk jugs, 2 tree branches (for the perch), string, scissors and paint
The boys painted each of their gallon milk jugs
Then I cut out the opening for the birds
We went over the parts of the bird - printed from Montessori Materials
My preschooler stamped the inside of the letter B with stamps of items that start with B
Pre-writing recognition using our HOMEMADE PLAY-DOH MATS.

For fun...........

How to make:
Trace child's foot and hand 2X), fold hand (wings) and glue
glue beak & eyes (the eyes I used were from my hole puncher) then glue a popsicle stick to it!

Science
My kindergartner has been learning more about the science of birds like the parts of a feather. We took 2 feathers (peacock & duck) and looke at them underneath a microscope. JJ wrote down his observations and then drew the feathers than we went over the names of the different parts of the feather.
