THE GROOVY LETTER BOOK WITH CD (FOR KIDS) REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY

The First Wave, LLC is a leading children's educational media company dedicated to inspiring a child's life-long love of learning. The company was co-founded by a mother-daughter team, Melissa and Dolores Neumann.

I had an opportunity to review their Come Dance With Us last year. Which has been a great learning tool So I was super excited with Melissa contacted me and asked me if I was interested in reviewing their new book!

The Groovy Letter Book is The First Wave's first book in a series of early reading books, focusing on letters, their phonetic sounds for reading, and letter parts for writing. Reading is introduced by showing the letters and their phonetic sounds, the building blocks for blending letters to form words. In this book, letters are associated with pictures that look like them. This makes the letter fun and easy to remember.

Book Features:
Includes an accompanying CD (contains songs on the Letters and Vowels, to add a further audio/musical component to the learning outreach of the book)
Recommended for ages 1 to 4 years old
Illustrated in brilliant colors
Each letter is shown with color coded parts and directional arrows, to allow and encourage the child to begin to trace the letter's form.
Lowercase letters are used, which are more commonly found in words. Linking each letter with an object that looks like it and whose name starts with that letter.
Designed to be interactive
There are suggested activities for reading and writing included. Children are asked to say the letters' phonetic sound, and trace their little fingers along the letter, as if they were writing. Letters are cleverly broken down into 9 components in order to help children better remember letters and develop fine motor skills.

  My Review:
I am currently teaching my 3 1/2 year old son his ABC's. The 1st time I gave him The Groovy Letter Book he wanted to look at it in the car and listen to the CD along with it. I was thrilled to hear him repeat the letter sounds with each letter along with the CD. Not only was he learning to recongnize his letters but he was grasping the sounds to go with each letter! Than the next day he asked me to play the CD again! As I have sat and looked / read the book with him he enjoys the whimsical pictures and sounding out the letter sounds. This book and CD are a wonderful tool to teach children their ABC's and sounds! I think teaching him his ABC's will be a breeze using this as a educational tool to teach him! This is by far the BEST ABC book I have ever seen!

At some point, we add in Rod and Staff's Phonics 1, but we will be moving from that to The Phonics Road to Reading and Spelling when I get the money to buy it. :P
