REASON'S TO VISIT VIRGINIA BEACH

Just the name Virginia Beach, sounds beautiful doesn't it? I have personally never been but my husband he says it's beautiful and lots to do! Our family may just have to stop there next year on our travels to visit family in New York! When my husband visited Virginia Beach he says he roller bladed all the way to the trails!

I am always looking for educational yet fun activities to incorporate into our homeschooling. Here is why I would like to visit Viginia Beach:

1) The Cape Henry Lighthouse - Built in 1792 and standing near the spot where in 1607 Captain Newport raised a cross to offer thanks for their safe crossing of the Atlantic.

2) Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge - which contains over 9,250 acres, situated on and around a thin strip of coastline typical of barrier islands found along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts. Habitats include beach, dunes, woodland, farm fields, and marsh. Most of the refuge marshlands are on islands contained within the waters of Back Bay.

3)  Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center - Offers 800,000 gallons of one of the best aquariums and live animal habitats in the country! From sharks, tortoises, otters, seal and much more! With hundreds of hands-on exhibits, outdoor aviary, nature trail, and marshlands.

4) The Old Coast Guard Station preserves the history of Virginia's coastal communities and maritime heritage. With so many activities to choose from for adults and children. For children storytime with Captain Fishbones or Grandma Beach! For adults learn about oyster harvesting!

5) Beaches, Beaches, Beaches! With 35 miles of coastline. Play in the water, snorkel, build sand castles, look for sea life, collect shells, sun bathe, fishing and boating - so much to do in one place! Stay at one of the beach resorts and you will not even need to leave!

6) Site Seeing - Virigina Beach offers a large aray of charters and guided tours from fishing where you can can catch Swordfish, Blues, Mahi, Tuna, Shark as well as scuba diving but dolphin and whale watching!

All perfect places to visit for any age! I am sure children will have fun and not even realize that they are learning! Whether you homeschool or not, Virginia Beach offers an abundant about of fun and activities! Check it out for yourself!

  2. Thanks for the GREAT memories! We lived in VA BCH for 10 years...and loved every minute! Check out the Currituck Ferry as well, a lovely ride across Currituck sound, connecting Corrola and Princess Anne Road! Lovely way to spend a summer Sunday (and a gorgeous drive through a wildlife refuge!)

    Captain Georges seafood...enough said! MMMMMMMM!!

  3. I should have written one of these, but I've been too busy. I used to live in Va. Beach. We moved there when I was 6 and left when I was almost 12. :o)
