The film tells the story of war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins). In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands.
This was my family's first experience in a new 3D movie. John Carter had great special effect and the 3D gave the movie depth. This movie had a little bit of something for everybody - sci-fi, adventure, romance and comedy rolled all into one movie! There was quite a bit of violence in the movie with a bit of strong language - I wouldn't recommend this movie for children. The plot was great but my family enjoyed the humorous antics and then there was the unexpected twist at the end! I won't tell you - I do not want to ruin the surprise - you have to go see it for yourself!
