Each year my family does a Easter Egg hunt and I never throw the plastic eggs away. I keep them in a BIG Rubbermaid container in our attic and then pull them down each year. Over the weekend it was time to pull them down.
Other than doing our Easter egg hunt I wondered what else I could do with them eggs.
I took two trays (1 of my 2 year old and 1 for my 4 year old) threw in some of the eggs in each of their trays but they weren't put together. Their task was to match the other 1/2 of the egg and then put the completed egg in the basket.
Most of eggs are different shapes, colors and sizes. So it was fun watching them match them up, some took a bit longer to do. I think this activity is good for dexterity and fine motor skills.
Even the baby enjoyed the eggs, he liked to throw them!
What else do you use your plastic Easter eggs for?
This is a good way to keep the kids busy and entertained

ReplyDeleteWith no kids in the house, I rarely have use for them, but I do pick some up each year and fill with small treats (like candy, gum, etc) to take to work - and put a basket on my desk.

ReplyDeleteGreat way to keep them occupied and to encourage motor skills too!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Bubbles isn't quite old enough for this activity, but with the way she loves filling & emptying her basket of plastic eggs, I'm sure she'd dig your activity when she's a little older. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteMy daycare kids love to do this. They also love to hide the empty eggs over and over to play egg hunt.
ReplyDeleteMy kids enjoy having a hunt inside our house. We have an orange crystal egg that is the "it" egg who ever finds it gets to be the hider next. They have ablast with this simple idea. But I also love your idea, we will try it out next year while doing our Easter week!
