LETTER OF THE WEEK "A" & ANT EXPERIMENT!

My son is almost 3 1/2 years old, I figured he may enjoy to start learnig his ABC's. So each week are will be doing letter of the week beginning with letter A.
Here are some of the "A" activities we did!
PRESCHOOL
Our pocket chart with various A a flash cards on our bulletin board for the week.

Making fingerprint Ants, Jumping Bean drew the legs

Used pony beads to trace A

putting together a airplane

Putting together The Mini Cootie GAME that we pretended were ants.

snacks that begin with the letter "A". Apple slices, Animal crackers and Ants on a log (raisins w/ peanut butter & celery)

PRESCHOOL & KINDERGARTEN
Both my boys (3 & 5) particpated in this Science Experiment. "A' is for ANT!
We set out a plate of different foods (cheese, shredded coconut, cookie, pound cake and corn) we observed throughout the day the ants coming and going on the plate. We watched to see what they liked best and what time of the day they were at the plate. They LOVED this! Our conclusion was that they liked the pound cake & shredded coconut best during the daytime but they were the most active at the plate at night time. In the morning the cheese was gone and hardly any shredded coconut left!
Begnining of experiment

Not much left! It was fun to watch them pick out their favorites and to watch them at certain times of the day. I would have never thought they would have been more active at night!

Our ant farm, we will catch a few more ants to add to it!

  4. Thank you for the awesome ideas! My 17 1/2 month old daughter is starting to recognize letters, so a few of these ideas would be cool for her to do, but with cherrios instead of beads! I can't wait to see what it up for the letter B!

I love this blog! I taught pre-k at one point in time and I hope to be able to stay home with my daughter (and future children) someday and homeschool her at least for awhile. Keep up the great work!

I am Nicole also. Congrats on the baby...adorable.

I wanted to share another website that I am using as I teach my son his alphabets, letters, and numbers http://www.letteroftheweek.com/index.html

Where do you get all your themes and ideas for crafting? We do not do much crafting. I would love to do more crafting things. My son just turned 3 in Nov.
