HELPING CHILDREN IN NEED - MAKE A SIMPLE SNACK PACK #Cbias #AbbottCFK

My family has been very blessed and we stop and thank God for His abundant blessings. I  couldn't imagine my children ever going to bed without having a healthy meal, I am thankful this has never happened.

There are more than 16 million children under the age of eighteen in the United States are food insecure—unable to consistently access adequate amounts of nutritious food necessary for a healthy life. Even more heartbreaking is the fact that more than three million children under the age of five are food insecure.
While having enough food is important, the nutritional quality of that food is equally important. Approximately 17% (or 12.5 million) of children and adolescents ages 2 – 19 are obese, and 1 of 7 low-income, preschool-aged children is obese.

I never knew who astounding these numbers were until after reading them on Champions For Kids. There are ways we can help, pass your blessings onto others in need. First learn about the hunger needs of children in your community by inviting a teacher, social worker, food pantry employee, or homeless shelter volunteer to talk with your family, friends, and co-workers.  Then gather your friends, family, and coworkers to provide nutritious snacks for children in need. Items like Pediasure, Pediasure SideKicks, and ZonePerfect bars would be great to share! Give the Abbott Nutrition Snack Packs to an organization in your community that serves children (like a school, religious organization, or nonprofit).

Our family will be heading to Walmart this week to put together our Abbott Nutrition Snack Pack Basket and then pass it to our church who offers a homeless ministry. These wonderful products will go to a family with children.
If you want to get involved with a SIMPLE service project, just go to Champions For Kids for more information. Also, join us for the Abbott/Champions for Kids Twitter party on January 19th at 9:00 pm EST, using the hashtag #AbbottCFK.

  1. Wow that is lovely of you, it also makes a great example to your kids. In our house hold we donate all the time but we've never donated food. It's definitely something to consider. Thank you!

  3. I'm not sure what kind of opportunities we have in our community. All I know about are the two food banks that we used to help out at before we had too many children to be more of a hindrance than a help. I'll need to look into this. Thanks for sharing.

Just wanted to let you know I tagged you.

    Hope you don't mind.

  4. What does the tag #Cbias stand for? I have seen it over the past 2 weeks but cannot find what it means.

  8. Thank you, the initials did not make sense to the promotion for me. I was just wondering.

  9. Love this! What a practical way to get the whole family involved and to let kids know that not all have even the simplest of things like food.

  11. How fantastic...it is such a good idea to set examples for our children and not just preaching to them about good thingss

  12. Those numbers are so sad to see. So many children without access to nutritious meals and going to bed hungry. Thank you for sharing this information.

  13. This is really a great way to help teach your children how to give what they have been blessed with to those that are less fortunate. I like the idea that even little children can help and get fully involved.
