We have been blessed to see 2 butterflies come out of their chrysalis. Currently we have approximately 4-5 crystalis' on our back patio. They are for Gulf Fritillary and they are absolutely beautiful. This last one came out last weekend, it's wings were still wet and it hung from it's chrysalis for awhile and I sat there watching it with my kids, mesmerized. 2 lizards tried to get it but I didn't have the heart to watch this new life be eaten in just a matter of moments. After a period of time it kept falling down and wouldn't fly away so I scooped it up and put it in our butterfly house, the next day I tried to get it to fly away but it wouldn't. I was worried, my kids and I prayed for it so the next day I took it out of the butterfly house and a few moments later it fly away! Praise God!
Of coarse I took lots of pictures of it!
What a perfect opportunity for hands-on learning!
There is just something magical about butterflies. I haven't seen one in years! I guess that's city living for me.

The butterflies are beautiful! My children really enjoyed when we raised them last spring. It is winter and they are already asking me when we can do it again. :-)
ReplyDeleteI am so glad, praise God, that the one you were concerned about was able to fly!
Many blessings,
Lisa
