Potty
training is no simple task. As a mom who has trained 2 of her 4 children and in
the progress of potty training another and another further down the road I have
found that each child is completely different.
My
2 boys were really easy to potty train, my one son basically potty trained
himself even when I wasn't ready for him to be until after a long road trip
from Florida to Louisiana to visit my Grandmother.
I
started potty training my daughter when she was about 2 1/2 years old (she just
recently turned 3 years old). She took a huge interest in using the potty so I
read her que's and figured it was time. It hasn't been easy since. Not easy
when you have 4 children ages 7 and under and you are out in public!
She
has done a really great job using the potty and at times as had accidents, most
of them are because she is so caught up in what she's doing that she doesn't
want to stop to go potty so my husband and I constantly have to ask her if she
needs to use the potty. Several times I have had to clean up accidents on the
bathroom floor because she quite didn't make it on time to her potty.
As
a mom I constantly encourage her and try not to crush her spirits if she has an
accident. When she uses the potty it's a great way to praise her and reward
her. I found that Huggies Pull Ups work wonderfully in our potty training
journey. The new Pull Ups Learning Designs
are a fun way to get children to use the potty. With the fun prints -
Lightening McQueen for boys and Minnie Mouse / Disney Princesses for makes
children want to wear them!
Front Back
The easy on and easy off Pull Up feature is perfect for her to use the potty like a big girl The feel of wear underwear but mess free around her!
My
biggest obstacle in potty training my daughter is keeping her dry at night
time. Most mornings she wakes up wet. I try to not give her something to drink
at least a few hours before bedtime and making sure she uses the potty before
bed. It's something we keep working at and praise her when she wakes up dry.
Don't get frustrated because then your child will get frustrated and may not want to try to train.
When your child is ready use the Pull Ups.
Ask your child frequently if they have to go potty or bring them every hour to the potty and encourage them to go.
When they use the potty praise them, Pull Ups even offers Big Kids Rewards to motivate your child to use the potty.
Use Pull-Ups.
When not at home bring a change of clothes just in case of accidents.
Keep a little potty in the car for on the go. I have had to use our times frequently while on the road.

My first son was difficult to train, he was four years old three months when he finally was trained. That was after his pediatrician said he's old enough have him go two weeks without anything on down there and voila it worked! Thankfully it was summer in NH months ;-) My second son trained when he was ready, like 18 months he was ready now at age 3 he still wears a pull up to bed though.
